Folksonomies. Worst neologism EVAR. Can the idea, which isn’t bad, triumph over the huge marketing hole?

    I prefer “tagsonomies.”

oh come on. if it had been coined by some real marketing dweeb, it would have been lost into buzzword land. i think this is one of those times where we should think of how much worse it could have been.

imagine if the term that really just means a people’s classification via tags, involved:

    -meta-leveraging
    -collabrative integrating definitions
    -tag megadigm

  3. Lloyd Dalton Says:

That’s funny, I really like “folksonomy”. It makes me smile. But I’ll loath the word “blog” forever…

  4. It bugs the heck out of me, too, but mostly because they aren’t taxonomies!

If they’d called it “folk tagging” or “folkeywords” or something I wouldn’t mind so much.

Joyce, when you use the word ‘neologism’ to dish on the word ‘folksonomy’, you need to link to the wikipedia for the rest of us nincompoops to understand:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neologism

speaking of which, where the hell did ‘nincompoop’ come from? see here:
